There’s nothing quite like the punchy, fresh taste of home-grown bulbs.  If you love garlic,  join your neighbors at the Roosevelt Community Garden to learn the essentials of garlic cultivation.  Master Gardener’s will guide you through the entire journey—from burying that first clove to hanging beautiful braids in your pantry—so you can finally move from “store-bought” to “garden-grown.

What We’ll Cover:

• A look at the different types of garlic you’ll find for sale (Hardneck vs. Softneck) and which grows best here.

• When to plant to ensure a massive summer harvest.

• Step-by-step planting techniques for perfect depth, spacing and soil prep.

• Don’t forget the Garlic Scapes! Learn how to harvest and cook these curly, gourmet delicacies while your bulbs are still underground.

• How to tell exactly when to harvest, plus the best ways to cure and store your garlic so it lasts all winter.
