Land Alliance Celebrates 15 Years
North Shore Land Alliance has worked tirelessly to protect Long Island’s forests, waterfronts and farmland. From preserving pristine landscapes like Wawapek in Cold Spring Harbor to creating a community garden in Roosevelt and supporting family farms like Young’s Farm, our efforts have safeguarded habitats, water resources and local communities. While over 1,200 acres have been preserved, more than 10,000 acres still need protection—making your support crucial to continue this vital conservation mission.

A Decade of Conservation: Nearly 1,000 Acres Protected
Since 2003, the North Shore Land Alliance, with the support of its partners and community, has protected nearly 1,000 acres of land through acquisitions, conservation easements, and stronger zoning ordinances. Guided by the vision of its founders, the dedication of its board and the hard work of its staff, the Land Alliance achieved significant milestones in its first decade of conservation.
800 Acres Conserved in Just Five Years
With a goal to protect 2,000–4,000 of the remaining 4,000 undeveloped acres in Nassau County, North Shore Land Alliance safeguarded nearly 800 acres with the support of local communities and government. These efforts protected our drinking water, maintained vital habitats and preserved the quality of life for future generations. From conserving forests and farmland to preventing overdevelopment, every acre mattered.
