Campaign to Grow Red Cote Preserve
Your support will ensure this land is forever protected, never developed, and always open for the community to enjoy.
All gifts must be received by February 2026.
The North Shore Land Alliance is urgently working to protect five irreplaceable acres of ecologically rich woodland and wetland habitat in Oyster Bay Cove, NY just off Yellow Cote Road. This once-in-a-generation opportunity to preserve open space that directly safeguards our region’s clean water, protects threatened wildlife corridors, and expands community access to nature.
This parcel sits within one of Long Island’s most important groundwater recharge zones, making its protection essential for maintaining the quality of the aquifer that supplies drinking water to thousands of residents. Conserving this land will also enhance the adjacent Red Cote Preserve, strengthen habitat connectivity for native plants and animals, and ensure that this landscape remains undeveloped for future generations.
To secure this property, we must raise $1.52 million by February 2026. Your support will help us purchase the land, restore its natural habitats, maintain public trails and provide ongoing stewardship that keeps this special place healthy and accessible. Every dollar brings us closer to permanently protecting a critical piece of Long Island’s natural heritage—forever.
