Abby Bezrutczyk – 2018 O’Neil Conservation Steward
Abby Bezrutczyk Selected to be an Intern for the Land Alliance’s 2018 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. We are delighted to welcome Abby Bezrutczyk as a 2018 O’Neil Conservation Steward. Abby is a sophomore at Cornell University studying environmental sciences and plant science. She has fueled her interest in conservation by working in an invasive plants lab and with specimens at Bailey Herbarium. Abby has experience doing field work and is an avid gardener. This summer she is looking forward to learning more about the natural places of Long Island where she grew up. About the William C. and Joyce C. O’Neil Conservation Steward Program Thanks to the Joyce C. and William C. O’Neil Charitable Trust, North Shore Land Alliance launched a formal internship program. Through this competitive program, qualified college students gain valuable conservation-related skills, including writing management plans for preserves, mapping trails, organizing volunteer and fundraising events, managing invasive plants, installing a woodland trail at Wawapek and educating the public about conservation. Emily Manning – 2018 O’Neil Conservation Steward
Emily Manning Selected for the Land Alliance’s 2018 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. We are delighted to welcome Emily Manning as a 2018 O’Neil Conservation Steward. Emily is a sophomore at Elon University NC and is majoring in environmental studies, with a minor in public health. Emily has held similar stewardship positions where she maintained trails, removed invasive plants and gave guided nature walks. Jeanine Swift – 2017 O’Neil Conservation Steward
Jeanine Swift Joins the Land Alliance 2017 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. We are delighted to welcome Jeanine Swift to our 2017 O’Neil Conservation Steward program. Jeanine holds a Bachelor of Science in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University. She has worked extensively in environmental education, running projects such as teaching children about vegetables, giving farm tours and designing new programs about composting. Jeanine has also worked as a farm hand, growing food and maintaining bee hives. Contact Us! Lauren Weller – 2016 O’Neil Conservation Steward
Lauren Weller Selected for the North Shore Land Alliance’s Inaugural College Internship Program. We are excited to welcome Lauren to the 2016 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. She is part of the very first group of students in this initiative. Lauren graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BA in Conservation Biology. She has organized large-scale volunteer projects for the Mahwah Environmental Organization as well as provided educational programs for the community. About the William C. and Joyce C. Conor O’Sullivan – 2016 O’Neil Conservation Steward
Conor O’Sullivan Selected for the North Shore Land Alliance’s Inaugural College Internship Program. We are excited to welcome Conor to the 2016 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. He is part of the very first group of students in this initiative. Conor graduated from Hunter College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Environmental Studies. Conor’s interest in conservation has taken precedence and he has worked for the Greenbelt Native Plant Center where he learned to collect and process native seeds. Volunteering at the Hempstead Plains Environmental Education Center he removed invasive plants. With the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, he was an environmental educator and led teens on camping trips in the Adirondacks. About the William C. and Joyce C.
