Annika Galvin Joins the Land Alliance 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program We are delighted to welcome Annika Galvin to our 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward program. Annika is an undergraduate student at Smith College working towards a degree in Environmental Science and Policy. Her previous experience includes studying invasive species on Massachusetts sandplains, research into Long Island Sound’s eutrophication and co-founding Smith’s Science and arts magazine About the William C. and Joyce C. O’Neil Conservation Steward Program Thanks to the Joyce C. and William C. O’Neil Charitable Trust, North Shore Land Alliance launched a formal internship program. Through this competitive program, qualified college students gain valuable conservation-related skills, including writing management plans for preserves, mapping trails, organizing volunteer and fundraising events, managing invasive plants, installing a woodland trail at Wawapek and educating the public about conservation. Gia LaLone – 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward
Gia LaLone Joins the Land Alliance 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program The Land Alliance is delighted to welcome Gia to the program. She is one of four outstanding interns selected to participate in the Land Alliance 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. The internship will begin the first week of June and run through August. Throughout the summer, our O’Neil Stewards will conduct plant surveys and wildlife inventories, maintain trails, manage invasive species, assist with monitoring conservation easements and lead environmental education programs for children. Gia is a recent graduate of SUNY Oneonta, with a degree in Environmental Sustainability and Geography. Growing up in the Central Pine Barrens and being a member of 4-H instilled a passion for environmental conservation at a very young age. She hopes to contribute to protecting Long Island’s ecosystems and habitats through her work. The program is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Joyce C. and William C. Sophia Stoma – 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward
Sophia Stoma Joins the Land Alliance 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program The Land Alliance is delighted to welcome Sophia to the 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. She is one of four exceptional interns selected to participate in the Land Alliance’s college internship program, made possible through the generous support of the Joyce C. and William C. O’Neil Charitable Trust. The internship will begin the first week of June and run through August. Throughout the summer, our O’Neil Stewards will conduct plant surveys and wildlife inventories, maintain trails, manage invasive species, assist with monitoring conservation easements and lead environmental education programs for children. Sophia is an Adelphi University student and a member of its honors College. She is pursuing a double major in Environmental Science and Fine Arts. Sophia’s goal is to use art to educate Long Islanders about sustainability and conservation. She has a strong interest in marine and wetland ecology and local oyster reproduction. Naomi Caplin Joins the Land Alliance 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program The Land Alliance is delighted to welcome Naomi to the 2026 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program. Elisa Busse Joins the Land Alliance 2025 O’Neil Conservation Steward Program We are delighted to welcome Elisa Busse to our 2025 O’Neil Conservation Steward program. Elisa is an undergraduate student at Hofstra University working towards a degree in biology. She grew up in Glen Head, New York, and has spent much of her life enjoying the parks and nature preserves that Long Island has to offer. About the William C. and Joyce C.
