Community gardens are not just about growing food; they’re about growing connections, fostering sustainability, and nurturing a sense of belonging.

Our Community Garden Project

The Roosevelt Community Garden, established in 2018 by the North Shore Land Alliance and Nassau County, provides community members and visitors of all ages and backgrounds with the opportunity to grow and harvest organic produce. The garden also serves as an outdoor classroom for gardening and agricultural workshops, while fostering community engagement, environmental education, and stewardship. Once an overgrown vacant lot, it has transformed into a vibrant, welcoming green space for gardening and community-building. It stands as a powerful example of how local initiatives can unite people and promote sustainability and environmental stewardship.
