Education is a core part of the North Shore Land Alliance’s mission and is integral to helping community members understand the benefits associated with the preservation of Long Island’s land and waters and the important role land conservation plays in ensuring a healthy quality of life.

Our Walks in the Woods are a series of free educational and interactive explorations through Long Island parks and nature preserves, many of which are off the beaten path.

Since 2007, the Walks in the Woods program has educated nearly 3,000 visitors of all ages about the wildlife and plants that call these natural areas home. Participants have also gained an understanding and appreciation of local land conservation and its benefits to our food and water supplies and wildlife habitats and its connection to the strength and health of our communities.

If you would like to register for a walk, join or renew your membership or make a donation to help advance our conservation efforts, please visit our website or call 516-922-1028.

These events are free and open to the public, but registration is required.  Walk dates, times and locations are subject to change so please check our website for updates.
