Join us for our Back-to-School Nature Walk presented by the North Shore Land Alliance and Dr. Suanne Kowal-Connelly, Director of Pediatric Clinical Quality, Harmony Healthcare LI as part of our programming at the Roosevelt Community Garden. Our focus is on connecting families to nature and encouraging young explorers to embrace a healthy lifestyle. This walk offers a wonderful opportunity for families to experience the outdoors together and inspire a love for nature in our youngest adventurers.
Naturalist Peter Martin will guide children and their families on a walk to the top of this beautiful plant and wildlife sanctuary. From there, they’ll enjoy the breathtaking view of Merrick Bay, Jones Beach Theater and the Manhattan skyline. During the walk, children may have the chance to interact with dwarf goats, tour the butterfly garden and identify different species of birds that live there.
Afterwards, parents can meet with Dr. Kowal-Connelly to learn about the benefits and connections between eating whole foods, physical activity and overall health for children.
Don’t forget your water and wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
