Humes Japanese Stroll Garden 3 Dogwood Lane, Locust Valley, NY 11560 Michael Veracka In this walk about tour of the Humes Japanese Stroll Garden, we will view and identify many varieties of bamboo – clumping and running – and discuss strategies for controlling running bamboo and methods for selecting and growing proper varieties of clumping bamboo desirable as landscape plantings. Advance registration required: Free for Stroll Garden Members (Use code MEM at checkout.) and $15 for non-members. Winter Woodland Exploration Sunday, December 6, 2026, 11 AM Roosevelt Preserve 2 Brooklyn Avenue, Roosevelt, NY 11575 (Corner of Frederick Ave. and Brooklyn Ave.) Led by Zeelika Pieters-Klatsky and Jane Jackson We’ve saved our most energetic walk for last. Stay warm during our active walk through this delightful strip of woodland tucked behind the Meadowbrook Parkway. We will make a few stops along the way to investigate the trees, understory and wildlife at the cusp of fall and winter. This event is free, but advance registration is required.
