Event Details Explore the Plants and Habitats at Jones Beach Saturday, March 9, 2024, 2:00 pm Jones Beach, Wantagh Led by Peter Martin We will explore the variety of habitats like ocean, bay and dunes and the birds and possibly seals that occupy them in winter. We will also get a winter view of the Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center’s surrounding landscape of native plants that filters stormwater and encourages the resiliency of local pollinator populations. Paddle Oyster Bay from Centre Island Beach
Paddle Oyster Bay This Fall Saturday, September 21, 2024, 2:00 pm Launching from Centre Island Beach, Bayville Led by Peter Martin Explore the high-quality marine habitat of the Oyster Bay National Wildlife Refuge while paddling through Oyster Bay Harbor, home to over 25 species of waterfowl. Horseshoe Crabs, Diamondback Terrapins and migrating Monarch Butterflies may also be spotted along the way. Online registration will be available as the date approaches. Participants are invited to use their own equipment or we can arrange a rental at a cost of $50 for a single kayak or $75 for a double, including all accessories.  Prior to this event, we will email you to confirm your attendance and provide you with more detailed information.
