Event Details Shinnecock Kelp Farmers: Restoring Our Waters Using Ancient Practices Sunday, May 19, 2024, 1:00 pm Education Annex, Humes Preserve 345 Oyster Bay Road, Mill Neck The Shinnecock Kelp Farmers, a collective of six women of multiple generations who are members of the Shinnecock Indian Nation, are stewarding and sustainably harvesting kelp in eastern Long Island. Learn about how their efforts restore marine habitat, enhance water quality and lay the groundwork for local green jobs. You may attend in person or via teleconference. The primary purpose of the Members Meeting is to hold elections of the Trustees of the Land Alliance. As a Member, you can vote in person or by proxy card.

Learn about how interrelationships that make an ecosystem stable and productive can teach us how to have a more diverse, equitable and inclusive human community. By observing first hand how biodiversity and symbiosis function in an ecosystem we can mimic wild nature and apply these services to our own lives. This event is free, but requires registration.
