    Event Details Participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count Sunday, February 18, 2024, 3:00 pm Shore Road Sanctuary, Cold Spring Harbor Led by Gwen Ugan Don your citizen scientist hat and join North Shore Land Alliance the weekend of the Great Backyard Bird Count to survey winter waterfowl in Cold Spring Harbor.     Sunday, November 5, 2023, 1:00 pm Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock (UUCSR) 48 Shelter Rock Rd, Manhasset, NY 11030 Led by Peter Martin Join Peter Martin, North Shore Land Alliance and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock for a ramble through the Congregation’s unique and beautiful 100-acre woodland parcel in the middle of Nassau County.  We will explore fall-blooming wildflowers, late migrant birds and delightful fall foliage.     Dining With Diabetes Workshop Series Wednesday’s, 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm October 18 and 25 and November 1 and 8 Roosevelt Public Library 27 W. Fulton Avenue, Roosevelt, NY 11575 Dining with Diabetes is a cooking and nutrition education program designed for people with prediabetes, type 1 or type 2 diabetes and members of their support system. In a series of workshops and hands-on demonstrations, participants will learn how to manage their diabetes through menu planning, carbohydrate counting, portion control and label reading.
